John served in the United States Army from 1957-1980. He served his country for 21 years. He served two tours in the Vietnam War. He spent 17 of those years in the Army as an Aircraft Maintenance Senior Sergeant. He retired as SFC (E7).
After his retirement from the Army he spent 27 years working at Alamo Group in Seguin Texas, as Maintenance/Mechanic.
Once retired he spent his years playing with and loving on his grandchildren. He wasn't a big fan of cards or board games, but he played them daily just to put a smile on Betty's face. He loved to talk about his memories from Vietnam and his years in the Army. He was a good ole' boy, who loved watching Action movies with his dog Mini, riding his Harley, and spending time with family. He would attend functions for the grandchildren, and be the loudest one cheering at that event. He taught himself to play guitar and wrote several songs. When he was younger he loved to ride his horse. He loved to get in the truck with Betty to take a ride in the country to find a small cafe to dine at that they had never been too.
