John Engelke

September 13, 1955 — December 22, 2021

John Sherman Engelke, 66, of Seguin, Texas passed away on December 22, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. He was born September 13, 1955 in Seguin, Texas to Clarence and Dorothy Engelke.

He is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Keller Engelke, his brothers Jerry Engelke and Jimmy Engelke, and his parents Clarence Engelke and Dorothy Engelke.

He is survived by his children Stuart Engelke and wife Courtney Engelke, Cat Heidgerken and husband John Heidgerken, and Karson Engelke, his grandchildren Tyler, Audrey, Emily, and Helena. He is also survived by his loving partner Patricia Hutton and numerous other friends and family members.

Johnny, as he was affectionately called by those around him, enjoyed spending time outdoors with family and friends. He particularly loved hunting and fishing and was always happy to provide deer sausage every Christmas at his kids request. He also spent countless hours playing games with his children and grandchildren, teaching his family to play Bo-Peep and screaming random names like “Junko Tabei” during Balderdash.

Johnny was an avid collector of EVERYTHING, but those around him always knew that if anyone needed anything he was happy to lend it, including a helping hand. He was the person that everyone turned to with any DIY or handyman project, and could always redneck MacGyver a solution when no other option could be found, and sometimes even when they could be.

Johnny will be greatly missed by everyone around him.
