Helen Jensen

1932 — January 1, 2020

She was born October 24, 1932 in Pickeral Lake Township, MN (near Alden, MN), daughter of Fredy R. and Leona (nee Fogel) Jensen.

Helen was Valedictorian of her high school class of 1950 and graduated Cum Laude from Luther College, Decorah, IA with a Bachelor of Arts.   She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Masters Degree in Library Science.

She was baptized, confirmed and married in Concordia Lutheran Church in Albert Lea, MN.

Helen taught math, science, speech and for competition one-act plays.  She was heavily involved in the Boy Scouts of America. She also worked at the Perry Castenada Library at the University of Texas for over 20 years.  She loved books.

Helen lived in New Jersey, Bangkok, Thailand and Texas.   She always had a spirit of adventure, which she instilled in her kids.   She was a devout LCMS Lutheran, very active in LWML and attended CE classes with Pastors during the summer.   She was a fierce Cribbage player.

She was preceded in death by her eldest son, William Frederik in 2003.

Surviving are her children, Martin Andrew and Lori, Melanie Elizabeth and David; daughter-in-law, Sheryl; grandchildren, Katie and Rob, Kim and Doug, Bill and Alicia, Ethan and Abby; and great-grandchildren, Lydia, Sarah, Hannah, Liam, Kaylee; several cousins and their families in MN, IA, FL and other states.    Also surviving are dear friends, Dr. Jayson Galler, the Mark Young family and other friends in Texas.

Private graveside services will be held at Kingsbury Cemetery, Kingsbury, TX at a later date.   Goetz Funeral Home Seguin, Tx. is assisting the family locally.

She requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to your own church.
