Elizabeth Cogswell

February 23, 1927 — November 29, 2021

Mrs. Elizabeth Hilda Julia Meyer Cogswell, age 94, died on November 29, 2021, peacefully with Arthur Vasquez and Gay by her side. The fourth child, born on February 23, 1927 to Arthur and Adele Scheffel Meyer, west of Seguin, Texas. Libby was raised on her maternal grandfather’s farm and attended the Scheffel School off of Stagecoach Road. Libby worked in upholstery, dairy, grocery, dress shop, and running a small Security Service Base Exchange on Kelly AFB. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, bunco, traveling, cooking, gardening, and she especially enjoyed preparing gatherings for friends and family.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Paul V. Cogswell, her siblings and their spouses; Ottillia (Vernon) Winkelmann, Adeline (Adolph) Heider, Arthur Meyer, Arno (Dorothy) Meyer, and Caroline West. She was divorced from her first husband, Roland Reimers, who also preceded her.

Survivors include Mildred Meyer, Madeline Reimers, her son Gary (Debbie) Reimers, step- daughters, Debra A. Lewis, Karen (Robert) Palmer, Lorri Nordquist, Vicki Goodall, and daughter, Gay Land (Arthur Vasquez). She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, their spouses and eleven great grandchildren. Always included, Grandma Libby leaves behind eight step grandchildren, seventeen step great grandchildren, and three step great, great grandchildren. Libby loved her extended families, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A very warm appreciation for the team at Encompass Home Health and Hospice, who were exceptional with Libby and helped her family help her. Recognition for all of the doctors and staff at Wilford Hall Medical Center and SAMMC, who provided excellent care throughout all the years of eligibility.

A Celebration of Life will be held at First United Methodist Church located at 710 N. Austin St. in Seguin, Texas on Tuesday January 11, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. A Committal Service will take place at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery located at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd. in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday January 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Goetz Funeral Home located at 713 N. Austin St. in Seguin, Texas.
