Verna Mae (Wahl) Bierstedt

Verna Mae Wahl Bierstedt, age 85 of Seguin, passed away on January 7, 2024. Verna Mae was born in New Braunfels, Texas to Edna (Reiley) Wahl Bruemmer and George Wahl. Verna Mae was a 1956 graduate of Seguin High School. She is a retired Special Ed Teacher. 

Verna Mae was happily married to the love of her life for 67 ½ years.   She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her most treasured times were spent with family, especially at the holidays where she looked forward to playing board games.   

Verna Mae is preceded in death by her parents, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alfred and Mary Bierstedt, stepfather Roland Bruemmer, sister-in-law Norma Wahl, and nephew Ray Wahl Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Al O’Brien Bierstedt, her daughter, Kathy Hewell and husband Al; grandchildren, Valerie Hewell and husband Jared, Brien Hewell and wife Elizabeth, great-grandchildren, Laura Hewell and Blake Lundgren; brother Ray Wahl Sr., nieces DeAnna Wahl and family, Monica Wahl and family, nephew, Brad Wahl (Bebbi) and family, cousins, other loving family members and many friends.               

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Goetz Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024, at San Geronimo Cemetery. Reverend Audrey Hewell will officiate the service.
