Vedna Mae Kirkland

Vedna Mae Kirkland, a woman of faith and a beloved figure to many, was welcomed home by the Lord on Sunday, January 11, 2026, in Seguin, Texas, at the age of 100. She was born on April 5, 1925, in Nixon, Texas.

Vedna exemplified a profound commitment to the Lord. She lived her life centered around God. Her deep faith guided her in all she did. She was a proud and devoted mother, wife, and grandmother who drew strength and inspiration from her faith in the Lord. Vedna proudly earned her GED in her 40s. She went on to pursue further education by taking college classes at Berean Bible School. Vedna later retired from Nesbit Nursing Home where she dedicated many years of her time to caring for others. Vedna loved the outdoors and enjoyed going fishing. Her time spent outdoors allowed her to admire the Lord’s beautiful creation.

Vedna was the last of her siblings to pass, marking the end of a significant chapter in her family's history. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Floyd Kirkland, her mother and father, her grandparents, two sons, eight sisters, and two brothers. Vedna is survived by her daughter-in-law, Gladys Kirkland, grandsons, James Kirkland and Joe Griffin, and granddaughter, Sandi Williams. She is further survived by her step granddaughters, Gladys, Merry, Tassy, Patricia, and Missy, and many other cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services honoring Vedna will be held on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Goetz Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Service officiated by Rev. Jim Price will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery.

Vedna Mae Kirkland was loved deeply by everyone that knew her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of many.
