Susan Merle Martin

Susan Merle Martin, age 76, was welcomed home by the Lord on Friday, October 23, 2026. She was born on December 30, 1949, in Abilene, Texas to Gilbert Veselka and Frances Darnell.

Susan loved her Savior Jesus, her husband Glen Martin, and her sister Janet Carwile more than life itself. She is survived by her nephews, Michael and Eric Carwile and their spouses, Princess Hodges and Lisa Traugott; her great-niece and great-nephew, Shelbie and Travis Caddell; and her great-great-nephew, Levi Caddell. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Martin, and nephews, Steven and Mark Martin.

Susan loved animals and instilled her love of animals with everyone she touched. She was very passionate about the Lord and had a pen ministry that helped spread the good news of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The pens she passed out had the plan of salvation printed on them, including John 3:16, Ephesians 2:8–9, John 14:16, and Romans 10:9.

Susan loved helping people and stray animals. If anyone needed anything, she was always the first to help. She will be greatly missed. Her love of people and animals will live on in the hearts of her family.

Services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Goetz Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the Funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Susan will then be laid to rest at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
