Sam Houston Stoeltje, Jr., 94 of Seguin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 10, 2017, in Seguin, Texas.
Sam was born on November 22, 1923, in Witting, Texas, to Sam Houston Stoeltje and Ella (Schmidt) Stoeltje. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy; sisters, Irma Hauschild, Jesma Schmidt, Joy Ummelman, Hattie Buss, Ella Mae Pesek.
Sam is survived by three sons, Sam Stoeltje, III, and wife, Linda, Don Stoeltje and wife, Kaaren, and Steve Stoeltje; grand-daughters, Tracy and husband, Reza, Tammy and husband, Mike, Angie, and Samantha; great-grandchildren, Kailey, Soraya, Milad, Kyle, Amelia, and Beckham; brother and sister-in-law, Frank and AnnieLois Stoeltje, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sam's greatest joys, other than his family, were the garden he tended even in 90 degree Texas heat, working at Naumann's Nursery and Schulz Nursery, and playing dominoes with family and friends. Sam proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and Herman Sons lodge.

Pallbearers are: David Stoeltje, Ronnie Pesek, Lonnie Pesek, Arlen Hauschild, Chad Donegan, Ralph Schmidt. Honorary Pallbearers: Glen Marek, Carl Stoeltje, Gary Teltschik, Chris Rickman, and Adam Rickman
Visitation will be held at Goetz Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 3:00pm to 8:00pm.
A Rosary will be recited at 9:30am at St. James Catholic Church in Seguin, Texas, on Thursday, December 14, 2017 followed by Funeral Mass at 10:00am. Interment will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. James School Scholarship Fund or a charity of your choice.
