Richard W. Reynolds passed from this life on May 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Rick had been a musician and drummer since the age of 9. He studied percussion and drums at the Percussion Institute of Technology in Hollywood, CA, and subsequently played with several groups, doing shows in various clubs and dance halls in and around San Antonio, New Braunfels, Seguin and Austin, as well as touring in Alberta, Canada. He was the drummer in several bands over the course of his career, including Richard Hailey and the Neon Stars, Gary P. Nunn, Prairie Fire, and the Almost Patsy Cline Band, with whom he played for many years.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Cleo Reynolds, mother Frankie Juanita Reynolds, brother Robert B. Reynolds, and nephew Dominic J. Karam. He is survived by sisters, Janis Pearson, Lisa Singer, Lori Reynolds; brother Ronnie Reynolds and wife Leticia; nieces Melissa Karam and husband Josh Stauber, Ramie Singer; nephews Caleb Reynolds and wife Bridget, Casey Reynolds and wife Ashley, and Michael Reynolds, as well as numerous cousins, grand-nieces/nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to Sweet Relief Musicians Fund (www.sweetrelief.org ). A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at Sunrise Community Church, 4430 Menchaca Rd., Austin, on Friday, June 27, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
