Ophelia Arce

Ophelia Arce went to be with our Lord on Thursday, May 28, 2026, in Seguin, Texas. Ophelia was born on September 28, 1942 to Dario and Gregoria Resendez. She is survived by her sister Amelia Young. She is also survived by her niece Deborah Alvarez and great nieces Stacie and Stephanie Alvarez.

Ophelia is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Arce and daughter, Patricia Arce Garrett, sister, Maria Resendez and her parents, Dario and Gregoria Resendez. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law Harold Young and nephew Thom Alvarez.

Ophelia began her career at Reichmanns in Seguin. She later began working as an assistant at St. James Catholic School for many years until her retirement. She also volunteered at the school library.

Following her retirement Ophelia enjoyed working with her plants and feeding the birds and squirrels. Ophelia loved animals and enjoyed reading books about animals. She also enjoyed keeping up with friends and family.

Ophelia had a deep faith and would pray her rosary daily. She also enjoyed reading religious articles and books.

Visitation will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:30 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Catholic Church will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at a later date. Family and friends are invited to a memorial luncheon following services at 12:30 p.m. at the Summers Bend Club House located at 1230 Walnut St. Seguin, Texas 78155.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St James Catholic School or The Guadalupe County Humane Society.
