Emblem

Neil Sidney Kibbe, of Cibolo, Texas, was called home to be with his Lord on October 20, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born in Dallas on March 21, 1937, Neil was raised in San Antonio and graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1955. He proudly served his country in the United States Army before beginning a career in sales with Rath Packing Company and Folgers Coffee, traveling across South Texas to serve his customers.

In 1968, Neil answered God’s calling and entered the ministry—a path he would follow faithfully for nearly five decades. As a devoted pastor, he shepherded congregations in San Antonio, Bulverde, Hondo, Kerrville, Seguin, Canyon Lake, and Reading, Pennsylvania. He also served on the staff of The Country Church in Marion until the age of 84. His leadership extended through his work with the San Antonio Baptist Association and Alto Frio Baptist Camp. Neil also shared the gospel internationally, preaching in crusades across South Korea and Brazil.

To those who knew him, Brother Neil was more than a preacher—he was a compassionate servant, a tireless worker, and a steady presence in times of joy and sorrow. Whether delivering sermons, teaching Bible studies, visiting the sick, officiating weddings and funerals, or offering counsel and comfort, he poured his heart into every aspect of ministry. His authenticity, strength, and unwavering faith left a lasting impact on every community he served.

Neil earned degrees from Southwest Texas State University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, equipping him for a life of spiritual leadership.

In 1961, Neil married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Mangum. Their marriage was a beautiful partnership that endured for 60 years until her passing. He was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter Kristi Knox, his parents Walter and Violet Kibbe, and his brother Murray Kibbe.

He is survived by his daughter Deanna Lynn Brunner and son Neil Scot Kibbe; sons-in-law Kevin Brunner and Keith Knox; sister Kathleen Kibbe-Terrill and brother Dan Kibbe; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward his legacy of faith and love.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Brooks of Cibolo for their compassionate care.

A celebration of Neil’s life will be held on Monday, October 27, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at The Country Church, 1005 FM 78 West, Marion, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Country Church Attic Ministry or Alto Frio Baptist Camp.
