Maria G. Bustos was born September 29, 1933 to Daniel and Sofia Bustos in Waelder, TX. Maria passed through the heavenly gates on April 11, 2024. She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family at the blessed age of 90. She was an active member of La Trinidad Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 42 years. Her great-grandfather Rufugio Macias was a circuit rider who left a strong spiritual foundation for her to follow and she continued the teaching of Methodism. She was a woman of faith, conviction and a testament to a life well lived.
She was preceded in death by her parents Daniel and Sofia Bustos and step-mother Consuelo Bustos. Her sister Sara Vasquez, brother in-law Yldefonso Vasquez, niece Irma V. Casio and nephew Efrain Davis.
She is survived by Fred Casio of San Antonio, TX, Sofie and husband Phillip Reina of Richmond, TX, Elsa Davis of Sugar Land, TX, Sandra and husband Oscar Ramirez of Arlington, TX, Elizabeth and husband Paul Parillo of Ashland City, TN, Mark and wife Elizabeth Vasquez of San Antonio, TX, Yldefonso Jr. and wife Kathy Vasquez of San Antonio, TX, Leticia Vasquez of San Antonio, TX, 20 great nieces and nephews, 28 great great nieces and nephews and 5 great great great nieces and nephews.
A gathering of Maria's family and friends will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Goetz Memorial Chapel, 713 N. Austin St, Seguin, TX. Services for Maria will take place at 11:00 a.m. at La Trinidad United Methodist Church in Seguin on Saturday, April 27, 2024. Burial services will be at 12:00 p.m. at San Geronimo Cemetery (1620 E Walnut St, Seguin, TX) on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
