Manuel Davila

Manuel Davila, 90, went to be with the Lord on October 8, 2022 in Seguin, TX. Manuel was born on December 17, 1931 to the late Jose Davila and Ynacia Montanez Davila in Seguin, TX.

Manuel was well known in the Seguin Community and loved by many. He will be greatly missed by all. Manuel worked for Tyson, formally known as Holly farms, where he retired after 34 years. Manuel enjoyed fishing, working outdoors in his yard, repairing lawn equipment, and working on engines for his family and friends. One of Manuel’s greatest accomplishments and many hobbies was playing 8 Ball. He was a member of the 8 Ball Association League and was honored as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Hall of Fame in 2017.

Manuel enjoyed visiting his daughter Nancy. They would conversate and watch football together. He would occasionally bartend at his daughter’s bar, formally named Nancy’s Hang Out. Manuel was also owner of Margarita’s Bar in the early 90s, where he enjoyed visiting with family and friends.

Manuel is preceded in death by his parents, Jose and Ynacia Davila; brothers, Eusebio Davila, Jose Davila, and Jesus Davila.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Nancy Davila; granddaughters, Esperanza “Lexi” Villareal (Josh), Kathrine Garza (Rosemary); close family friend, Stephanie Perez (Dillon); brother, Thomas Davila (Consuelo); sister, Librada ”LaLa” Davila Ramirez, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

The Family would like to give thanks to Dr. Smith and WellMed staff, Guadalupe Regional Medical Center staff, and Elara Caring Hospice; especially Rochelle, Andrea, Dora, and all the residents of River Terrace Apartments. Special thanks to all of our family, friends, and the community for their heart felt prayers, well wishes, and gifts for helping us through our time of grief.

Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Josh Castillo, Dillon Perez, Ray Ramirez, Rosemary Saenz, Joe Garcia,  Jesse Davila, and Tony Guerra.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at Goetz Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Goetz Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Ray Perales.
