Luisa Guel passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, February 1, 2026, in Seguin, Texas at the age of 78. She was born on April 9, 1947, in Barbarosa, Texas to Jose Arias and Jesusa Loera.
Luisa was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother who cared deeply for her family. She embodied kindness and compassion throughout her entire life. She was especially nurturing, loving, and giving to her daughters, and she cherished her grandchildren and held them dear. She always put the needs of others before her own and always cared for those around her.
Luisa will also be remembered for her strong faith and deep spirituality. Luisa always kept others in her thoughts and prayers, regardless of whether she knew them personally. She would often say a prayer upon seeing someone in need, such as a broken-down car or someone on foot. Her willingness to give the shirt off her back to help another human being was a testament to her generous spirit.
In addition to her devotion to her family and her faith, Luisa loved her pets and treated them as beloved members of her family. Her interests included spending quality time with her loved ones, watching reality TV, and enjoying classic Western films.
Luisa is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Inocencio Guel; parents, Jose and Jesusa Arias; siblings, Ricky Arias, Herman Arias, Eugene Arias, Pete Arias, Manuel Arias, and Willie Arias Sr.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Rose (Gene) Saldana, Lisa (Rene) Garcia, Maria (Brian) Sheffield; grandsons, Nicholas Garcia, Alex Garcia, Issac Sanchez; siblings, Gloria (Jose) Casarez, Janie Arias, Maria Arias, Cande (Felton) Cunningham, sister-in-law, Christy Arias, Lorenza Arias, Romanita (Matilde) Troncoso, Elida (Tom) Gately, Anna (Jesse) Flores, Corina Guel, and brother-in-law, David (Nette) Guel. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Luisa was a force to be reckoned with; when she believed in something, she poured her heart and soul into it. Her kindness, love, and generosity will be missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Goetz Funeral Home on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m.
