Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, & Great-Grandmother
Lola Virginia (Jones) Royal was born March 4, 1924 to John King Jones and Lola Biesele Jones of Seguin, Texas and passed away on February 13th, 2017 at the age of 92 in Kerrville, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ira Cloyd Royal and son, Daylon Jones Royal. She is survived by daughters Roxana Clair (Royal) Ballard and husband Mike, Melissa Jane (Royal) Kuhn and husband Brian, daughter-in-law Susan Holt Royal, grandchildren Egan (Nicole) Royal, Carrie (Craig) Anderson, Hunter (Erica) Royal, Dwight (Stacy) Ballard, Christi (Carlos) Barrera, Austin Kuhn, Chandler Kuhn, Cameron Kuhn, Parker Kuhn, great-grandchildren Ashlyn, Cade, Rhylie, Caleb, Ronnie, Madison, Camden, Colter, Camila, Christian, and numerous other relatives and friends. Lola was born and raised in Seguin, Texas. During high school, her family transferred to Pleasanton, Texas where she met her husband, Cloyd Royal. They were married in June 1943. Cloyd became a Minister for the Church of Christ at a young age and she became a dedicated Minister's wife for congregations in San Antonio and South Texas. Lola earned her Bachelor's Degree in Music from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. Music always played an important role in her life - Lola won 1st place in the State of Texas in Piano competition while in high school, and spent most of her life teaching piano to countless students of all ages. In addition to private piano teaching, she taught many years and retired as a music educator from Alamo Heights School District in San Antonio, Texas. Lola was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all. Visitation will begin Saturday, February 18th, 2017 at 12:00 pm with a Chapel Service held at 1:00 pm at Goetz Funeral Home in Seguin, Texas. A burial will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery, also in Seguin. Lola requested her seven grandsons be her pallbearers: Dwight Ballard, Egan Royal, Austin Kuhn, Hunter Royal, Chandler Kuhn, Cameron Kuhn, and Parker Kuhn. Arrangements are entrusted to Goetz Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the staff members at Brookdale Senior Living Solutions, Kerrville and Peterson Regional Medical Center of Kerrville for all the wonderful care they provided.
