Lillie Shumway Schmidt

Lillie Shumway Schmidt, a cherished member of the Seguin community, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, at the remarkable age of 100. Born on July 28, 1924, in Houston, Texas, Lillie lived a life filled with love, laughter, and creativity.

From an early age, Lillie's passion for hairdressing bloomed as she cultivated her skills throughout Texas and Louisiana. Her talent shone brightly when she opened her own beauty shop in Seguin. It was in that inviting space that she not only shaped hair but also formed deep and lasting connections with her clients, always bringing a warm, friendly demeanor that made everyone feel special.

Lillie's adventurous spirit led her to take on numerous roles, including briefly owning a restaurant where she shared her love for cooking and hospitality. But it was in her garden that her soul truly flourished. A woman of strong will, Lillie inspired those around her with her vibrant personality and zest for life. She was generous with her love, capable of brightening any room she entered with her infectious smile and laughter.
