Lawrence Mccarthy

October 26, 1932 — June 28, 2016

"Oh I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth"
Colonel Lawrence Joseph McCarthy quietly passed June 28, 2016.
"And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;"
Born in 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio to a feisty Genevieve McCarthy and brother to William (Rosemary), James (Barbara), Bobby dec. (Dixie) and Edward.
"Sunward I've climbed and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds"
He married IIene Whitney in Cleveland and together they began their life and family in the United States Air Force, where he became a pilot.
"And done a hundred things You have not dreamed of"
They raised four children; Terie, Patrick, Timothy (Sharon) and Mary Lou (Louie). Following assignments in Texas, Georgia, Colorado, Vietnam, Alabama, Virginia, and Germany they settled in Texas and began their second life.
"Wheeled and soared and swing high in the sunlit silence"
He became part of the Seguin community through the Knights of Columbus, Keep Seguin Beautiful, Pecan Museum committee, and Rotary.
"Hovering there I've chased the shouting wind along and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air."
He also taught at the former Randolph AFB Aero Club, he was a member of the Order of Daedalians, he was active in the Harp and Shamrock Society of Texas, serving as their Irishman of the year 1991.
"Up, up the long delirious burning blue I've toped the wind-swept heights with easy grace, where never lark, or even eagle, flew;"
He is survived by his children; 18 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren with three more to arrive in the winter.
"And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod the high untrepassed sanctity of space,"
Join the family as we celebrate his reunion with the love of his life and entrance to Heavenly Kingdom
"Put out my hand and touched the face of God."
