John Darrell Zengler

John Darrell Zengler, age 76, of New Braunfels, passed away on September 30, 2023.

Darrell was born in North Canton, Ohio on February 8, 1947, the second child of John Richard “Jack” Zengler and Inez Maxine George Zengler. The family moved to New Braunfels in 1957 and Darrell graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1965. He served in the United States Army from 1968-1970 and was a Vietnam veteran.

During his lifetime, Darrell was employed by several different companies – Richards and Krueger Co./Home Service Center, M.G.’s Automotive Repair, Automotive Service Center (which he owned), Bluebonnet Motors, Seguin Motor Company, and M.G.’s Wrecker Service. He retired on December 31, 2011.

Darrell married Marilyn Ann Mueller in 1977 and they had 2 children. The family enjoyed camping in their pop-up camper, and traveled to several places within Texas, and to Louisiana, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. Later in life he enjoyed being a grandfather and spending time with his grandchildren and receiving their hugs.

Darrell is survived by his daughter Cheryl Ann Dycus (Bryan), his son John Clinton Zengler (Erica), and his two grandchildren Eli Jospeh Dycus and Emma LeighAnn Dycus. He is also survived by his stepmother Elvera “Terry” Zengler, three brothers: J.R. Zengler, Sam Kneuper (Renee), and Matt Zengler (Sheila), and by two sisters: Jill Kneuper (George), and Beth Crocker, and sister-in-law: Pat Tepe (Bill). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceasing Darrell was his wife Marilyn, his sister Denise Reeder Gooding, brother Steve Kneuper, sister-in-law Barbara Zengler, and brother in law John Crocker.

A Graveside service will be held at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park on Monday, October 9, 2023, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a charity of your choice.
