We are saddened to announce the passing of our dad, Jacob David Smith, Jr. He left this earth peacefully and we are comforted in knowing that because of his faith in Jesus, he was immediately taken to Heaven and is happily enjoying his reunion with many loved ones.
He cared profoundly for his family, cherishing every moment spent in their company. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren.
His warm smile could light up a room, and he never passed up the chance for a good laugh, or funny prank. His spirit was simple, kind, content, and he took joy in the everyday blessings of life.
He was a man deeply connected to the land. He had a remarkable gift for growing anything that would take root and found peace in the soil beneath his hands.
He was a hardworking soul, and he believed in the value of honest labor.
He loved capturing and cherishing the beautiful things in life on his phone camera — whether it was a precious grandchild, family, landscapes from his travels, or roses and vegetables from his garden. He collected photos of these simple joys and enthusiastically shared them with others.
An adventurer in his own quiet way, he traveled countless miles, always ready for the next road and the stories it would bring.
A natural mechanic, he could coax life back into any stubborn engine, and perhaps more importantly, he applied that same steady hand and determined heart to the challenges life set before him. Through every breakdown and setback, he found a way to mend what was broken and move forward.
Our dad leaves behind a legacy of faith, resilience, generosity and gentle wisdom.
