It is with both sadness and joy that we can come together to celebrate the life of Geronimo Reyes, age 98, of Seguin, Tx who went to be with the Lord and entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 5, 2023. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and true friend to many.  Geronimo was born to Sisto Reyes Sr. and Petra Hernandez Reyes on September 30, 1924 in Marion, Tx.  He met and married his late wife, Maria of 77 years on July 7, 1945. He is also survived by his five children, Esther Reyes Alvarado (Reynaldo), Edward Reyes Sr. (Diane), Ruben Reyes (Sophia), Bertha Reyes Facundo (Ascension) and Beatrice Reyes Ramos (Robert Rene).

10 grandchildren, Edward Reyes Jr., Reynaldo Alvarado Jr., Christopher Facundo Sr., Celeste Reyes Luna, Raquel Alvarado Reyes, Joseph Facundo, Angela Reyes Sealey, John Rene Alvarado, Lorinda Ramos Spaulding and Jeron Rene Ramos.  21 great grandchildren, Marcus Rey Alvarado, Anthony Isaiah Alvarado, John Michael Alvarado, Paul Rene Alvarado, Jeremy Christian Alvarado, Zachery Joseph Alvarado, Carlos Jacob Reyes, Emma Grace Reyes, Tyler Blake Ascencion, Mariel Feliz Reyes, Madeline Ruth Reyes, Matthew Edward Reyes, Elliana Kayln Luna, Marissa Danielle Luna, Emaile Marie Gonzales, Lauren Elizabeth Sealey, Tristan Luke Sealey, Christopher Facundo Jr., Maria Criselda Facundo, Christian Matthew Facundo and Kennedy Rene Ramos. 1 great-great-grandchild, Liam Michael Gonzales.

He lived a full life surrounded by family and friends. He was a devoted Catholic and was active with his church for decades ever since the church opened its doors on Jones St. which included being a member of the Catholic Young Mans Youth Organizations at the age of 13, member of The Holy Name Society, Cursillo Movement, as well as, having served on church pastoral and finance committees. In addition, he was a Church Usher and Eucharistic Minister. He was happy to volunteer for all that was asked of him, and he enjoyed putting forth his efforts to serve God first. He was a life-long participant in the annual church jamaicas, church bingos, early Sunday breakfast sales, the Divine Mercy gatherings, and the Cursillo Movement Retreats. He was in charge of constructing and completing the Holy Name building. Geronimo began his career as an upholstery apprentice, who graduated to a master-skillful upholstery craftsman. He worked at Bosley's Trim Shop for several years before starting his own business which he very successfully operated for 44 years. His business flourished and spread in Seguin and surrounding areas. He re-upholstered home furnishings, cars and boats.  However, he always looked forward to working on the antique cars that were brought to him to get ready for the Fourth of July parade. He took pride in every project that he under took. No matter how small or large the project he gave it 110%. At the age of 93 he decided to take only small projects for family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, parents, brothers and sisters:  Gonzalo Reyes Sr., Dolores Reyes, Frank Reyes Sr., Herminia Serna, Guadalupe Rios, and Juan Reyes.

He is survived by his brothers and sister: Sisto Reyes Jr., Raul Reyes Sr.  and Maria Inez Ramirez.  Brothers-In-Law: Porfirio Amador and Antonio Gutierrez. Pallbearers are Edward Reyes Jr., Reynaldo Alvarado Jr., Christopher Facundo Sr., Joseph Facundo, John Rene Alvarado and Jeron Rene Ramos.

The Reyes family extends their most sincere gratitude to the Guadalupe Regional Hospice Care Team of Seguin, Chaplain Emanuel Carpenter, Father Robert Delong, Eucharistic Minister Mary Alice, Dr Thomas H Raetzsch, Dr. Megan Barnwell and Dr. Bhupinder S Sangha.

Visitation will be held at Goetz Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, starting at 5:00 p.m. with the Holy Rosary recited by Deacon Nick Carrillo at 7:00 p.m.  Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with interment to follow at St. James Cemetery.
