Gerald Mccune Sr.

December 31, 1942 — November 8, 2017

Gerald "Jerry" McCune was called home by our Heavenly Father on November 8, 2017. Jerry was born December 31, 1942 in Quincy, Illinois to Lynn and Emma Kretzer McCune. He graduated from Quincy High School in 1961 and in 1963 he graduated from David Ranken Trade School in St. Louis, Missouri.

He married Sandra "Sue" Howlett in 1962 at Grandview Baptist Church in Quincy, Illinois by the Rev. Paul Keeler. He started at Motorola in 1963 and worked the Quincy plant until it closed in 1976. The family moved to Seguin, Texas in 1976 and Jerry continued working for Motorola. In 2001 he retired after 37 years with Motorola. Jerry had enjoyed going for coffee on Monday afternoons at the Dairy Queen with good friends. He was a member of Cross Church and a past member of the Church Council.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Jerry Jr. and wife Pam of Nacogdoches, TX; Jim of Seguin, TX; and Jeff of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Madison, Connor, Gabryl and Ilyana. He loved his wife and family well! He was the steady compass and beloved patriarch of his family, and is dearly missed.

A visitation will begin Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 4:30pm until 7:00pm at Goetz Funeral Home. A Church service will be held at Cross Church, 814 N. Bauer St., Seguin TX, with Rev. Jim Price officiating on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 10:00am. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park, 2951 S. State Highway 46, New Braunfels, TX. Arrangements are entrusted to Goetz Funeral Home, 713 N. Austin St., Seguin, TX.
