Eleanor Jean Norris (nee John), 96, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2026, in Seguin, Texas after a long fulfilling life. Jean was born on March 7, 1929, in Morgantown, West Virginia. She was raised on a farm which instilled in her a dedication to honest hard work and a lifelong love of animals. At the age of 16, she learned to fly small planes which embodied her desire to aim high in all she did. She was an accomplished seamstress who enjoyed using her talents to create many handmade treasures from her grandchildren’s christening gowns to beautiful needlework projects in cross-stitch and embroidery as well as crochet pieces. Jean was an Army officer’s wife, a mother and grandmother of three and a favorite aunt. She was an endless source of love, a patient and attentive listener, an excellent advisor, and a fierce defender of those she loved.
She was preceded in death by her husband LTC John T. Norris, her sister Georgia Landry, her brother Donald John, and her niece Denise Mortland.
Jean is survived by her beloved children, Debra Norris, JT Norris (Melinda), Therese Norris-Sharp (Michael); her cherished grandchildren, Connor, Lauren and Brenna Sharp; her adored nieces, Brenda Berry and Tina Hart; her nephews, Mark and John Landry; as well as numerous grand-nieces/nephews, great grand-nieces/nephews, and many who considered her a second mom especially those Jean referred to as her Motley Crew.
Funeral arrangements will be provided by Goetz Funeral Home in Seguin, Texas. A Memorial service will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Seguin, Texas on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the animal charity of your choice.
