Edward Paul Henk, known fondly as "Popeye", peacefully passed away on December 26, 2023, in Seguin, Texas. He was born on March 27, 1933, in Zorn, Texas to Adolph Henk and Elenora Katy Meister. Edward led a remarkable life filled with dedication, hard work, and cherished moments with his loved ones.
Edward proudly served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He also embarked on a distinguished 30-year career at Central Freight Lines. Edward had a deep love for ranching and embraced the tranquility it provided. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, polka dancing and deer hunting. Edward also possessed an innate talent for storytelling and humor. Those fortunate enough to know him were always captivated by his vivid stories and humorous jokes.
Edward is preceded in death by his son, Eddie Henk; granddaughter, Misti McNutt; brothers, Allen Henk and wife Biddy, Roger Henk and wife Adeline, James Henk and wife Yvonne, John Henk and wife Laverne and Leo Henk, as well as his sister Lucille Hehs and husband Mervin.
His memory will forever be cherished by those who survive him. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Dorrene Henk. They married on May 25, 1957, at Friedens Church in Geronimo, Texas.
Edward is further survived by his children, Kathy Madden and husband Don, Penny Woodard, David Henk, sister, Betty Jandt and husband Albert and sister-in-law Annie Henk. The impact of Edward's life extends even further through his ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Goetz Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The funeral service honoring Edward's life will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Redeemer United Church. Burial will follow at Redeemer United Church Cemetery.
