Dorothy Nell Beauchamp, also known as Dotsy, passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, in New Braunfels, Texas, at the age of 87. She was born on June 19, 1938, in Rosenberg, Texas, to Harold H. Beauchamp and Marguerite E. (Townsend) Beauchamp.
Dorothy was a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She grew up in Seguin, Texas, where she excelled academically. She was the valedictorian of her class at Seguin High School where she served as drum major and was crowned Miss Seguin in 1955. Following high school, she furthered her education at Southern Methodist University, graduating Phi Beta Kappa in 1960. She served as chapter President of her sorority and won Tri-Delta’s national Leadership Award in her senior year. Dorothy's pursuit of knowledge continued as she earned a master's degrees in English and History from Sul Ross State College in 1964 and later a master’s degree in social work from the University of Houston in 1978.
Throughout her life, Dorothy remained deeply rooted in her faith as a strong Methodist. Her commitment was evident as she served as president of the San Antonio District Methodist Youth Fellowship and sang in the church choir for many years. Later, as a pastor’s wife, she supported the establishment and growth of congregations in Colorado and Texas.
In her professional life, Dorothy was a successful businesswoman, known for her impactful marriage and family counseling practices. Her guidance helped many individuals navigate life’s challenges.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dorothy cherished life’s simple joys. She loved to travel, immerse herself in novels, listen to classical music, enjoy Texas sunsets and bluebonnets, watch college and professional sports, and play tennis. Many memories were made around shared meals with family, and she took great pleasure in visiting and connecting with friends and loved ones, both in person and through frequent phone calls.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Marguerite Beauchamp, and her sister, Anne Brawner and brother-in-law Gene.
Dorothy is survived by her sons, Ross (Gail) Felker, Greg (Elyssa) Felker, and Wade (Donna) Felker; grandchildren, Chris Felker (Miranda Strong), Jenny (Matt) Noble, Gavin Felker, Nolan Felker, Kiana Felker, Sean Felker, and Will (Jessica) Wagner; great grandchildren Cora and Lyla Noble, J.J. and Calvin Strong, Anthony and Ylianna Wagner; nieces Mary Anne (Byron) Barnett and Nancy (Dave) Bush and nephews Tom Brawner and Jeff (Pam) Brawner. She is further survived by many grand nieces, nephews, and good friends. She treasured especially close relationships with grand-nieces Erin (Gilles) Barnett, Jenna (J.P.) Barnett, and grand-nephew Dan (Caroline) Barnett.
Dorothy will be lovingly remembered and profoundly missed. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of many.
