Donna Mayfield

Donna Mayfield passed October 25, 2018 at the age of 91. She was born to Edward and Hazel (Nelson) Ester in Hennessey, Oklahoma on January 18, 1927. The family moved to Peck, KS where Donna and her siblings attended a one-room country school through 8th grade.
She then went to high school in Mulvane, KS. After graduating in 1945, she went to Wichita Business College after which she was a secretary, stenographer and receptionist. She married Jack Mayfield on Jan. 11, 1948, one week before her birthday so they would be the same age. Jack's career moved them to many states, New York, Michigan (where Kim joined the family), Illinois (Where Jason joined the family), Kansas, Ohio, Minnesota, back to Ohio then culminating with her and Jack opening Mayfield's United Super in Seguin in the mid 70's. Throughout each new state and new house, Donna made it a home. She loved taking care of the family by cooking (and collecting cookbooks), cleaning, sewing, decorating the house, and driving the kids to their activities. She also enjoyed upkeeping her flowers, playing bridge, attending circle, Sunday school and church service.

After they sold Mayfield's where she assisted at the courtesy counter, they purchased and ran Stor Mor Mini Storage where she did the books as well as assisting at his businesses in San Antonio.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 67 years, brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughter Kim Markgraf of Live Oak; son Jason (Kaye) Mayfield of Seguin; grandchildren Justin (Xochitl) of Laredo, and Victoria (Tori) Vigil (Larry) of Holloman AFB, NM; great-granddaughter Madison; Victoria (Tori) Vigil (Larry) of Holloman AFB, NM; great-grandchildren Elizae, Anthony and Nikko, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial Service will be held Nov. 10, 2018 at F.U.M.C. Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Private inurnment following.
