Debra Mccarley

June 23, 1955 — June 15, 2017

On Thursday, June 15, 2017, Debra Jean McCarley spread her wings and flew to heaven. She had a long hard fight with cancer, where she defied the odds for a long period. Debra was born to Frances Miller on June 23, 1955 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. At the age of 5, she was adopted by Nolan Bourgeois Jr. She met the love of her life and married Charles S. McCarley on November 30, 1974. She had two children, Spurgeon McCarley and Nicholas McCarley. Debra enjoyed her family and friends massively. She graduated from Methodist School of Nursing in 1995 and enjoyed her career as a RN immensely. During her career as a nurse, she touched thousands of lives and helped many people. Her grandchildren meant the world to her in the later portion of her life. She always had a warming smile that could change the room when she entered it. She was preceded in death by her son, Spurgeon McCarley; and mother Frances Therian. She is survived by her husband Charles McCarley of 42 years of happy faithful marriage; her father Nolan Bourgeois Jr. of New Braunfels, Texas; son Nicholas McCarley and wife Jessica McCarley; grandsons Tyler McCarley, Austin Bramlett; granddaughters Grace Skerik and Abigail Skerik; her brother Nolan Bourgeois III of Lockwood, California; along with numerous cousins, friends, and patients of hers. She will be missed and was loved by all. Visitation will begin Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Goetz Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 10:30 am at McNeil Cemetery in Luling, Texas. Arrangements are entrusted to Goetz Funeral Home, Seguin, Texas.
