Cruz Leal

Cruz M. Leal was called home to be with our Lord on December 23, 2017 at the age of 92. She is preceded in death by parents, Domingo and Pabla Medina; husband, Fernando Leal; son, Raul Leal; and great-grandchildren, Sammy and Ashley Lopez. She is survived by siblings, Carmen Gutierrez, Tommie Weitzel, Emilio Medina, Celia DeLaCruz, and Mary Caro; children, Daniel (Ester) Leal, Marcelino (Velia) Leal, Carmen (Henry) Luna, Ernest (Reina) Leal, Fernando Leal Jr., Dalia (Edward) Teneyuque, Velia (Carlos) Santos, Mario (Teresa) Leal, Eddie Leal, and Rene (Michelle) Leal; 30 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; and numerous other great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Cruz ("Ami") was born in Staples, TX on May 3, 1925. She married Fernando Leal in April 1946. Together they raised 10 children, whom they taught the meaning of hard work, traveling annually to Michigan as migrant workers for nearly 15 years. Even in her later years, Ami loved to be on the go with purse in hand to anywhere anyone would take her. She was a devout Catholic and read her bible daily. Ami had an unconditional love for her children and family who will remember her strength, humor, hospitality, cooking, and most of all the love she showed everyone.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a 7:00pm Rosary to follow at Goetz Funeral Home. A funeral procession will depart on Friday, December 29, 2017 at 10:00am for a 10:30am Mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Geronimo Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Goetz Funeral Home.
