Charles P. Spencer, also known as “Phil” passed away on January 2, 2026, at the age of 76. He was born on December 9, 1949, in Biloxi, Mississippi to Charles T. Spencer and Mildred (Davis) Spencer.
Phil was raised in a military family where he spent a large part of his childhood traveling with his family. He graduated from high school in Orlando, FL. Phil then went straight into the U.S. Air Force where he became a jet engine mechanic. His service took him to Okinawa, Japan and in and out of Vietnam during war time. After his time in the military, he went to work at NASA in Houston, TX. He then later worked for Amoco Oil and Gas where he mastered his welding skills and enjoyed utilizing them until his retirement. Phil’s many travels brought him to Andrews, TX where he met his future wife, Randa. They made their home in San Antonio and later in Seguin, TX. Phil always had a love for motorcycles from a very young age. He raced dirt bikes and then graduated to Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He rode until he had to take a medical retirement and retired his Harley. He lived a full life of travel and loved his family and many friends.
Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Charles T. Spencer and Mildred Boberg.
Phil will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Randa (Slack) Spencer; daughters, Amber Pharis and Carrie Hubbard; stepson, Howard Martin; sisters, Debbie (Robert) Kerr and Kandy (Leonard) Binz; and his brother, Jeffrey (Belinda) Spencer. He will be remembered as “Papa” to his precious grands, Ashley Hubbard, Connor Hubbard, Sarah Hubbard and Tyvan Pharis and “Uncle Phil” to numerous loving nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Jeanna Conner; brothers-in-law, Mark (Tammy) Slack, Joel (Laura) Slack, and Brian Slack.
Phil will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas with Military honors on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 10:15 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J. Fox Parkinson's Foundation or Breast Cancer Foundation.
