Betty Broussard

June 20, 1919 — February 4, 2019

Betty Marie Broussard, 99, of Seguin, passed away Monday, February 4, 2019 at her residence. She was born in Yoakum, Tx. On June 20, 1919 to Leonard and Maude (Mayfield) Holster.

Betty was a Teacher's Aide at Mary B. Erskine Elementary School and was a 50-year member of St James Catholic Church in Seguin. She made a lifetime commitment to many aspects of community service and mental health issues, and established The Christian Helping Center in Seguin.

She is survived by her sons, Joe Broussard of Canyon Lake, John Broussard and his wife, Fern, of Austin, Steve Broussard of Marion and Richard Broussard and his wife, Jennifer, of Austin; daughters, Terri Maria Kelly of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jean Arce, and her husband, Gregory, of Seguin; 17 grandchildren; 21 great- grandchildren; 7 great- great -grandchildren and her sister, Doris Sanders of Fort Worth.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ernie J. Broussard Sr.; her parents; sons, Martin, David, Ernie Jr., William and James Broussard; and her brother, Homer Holster.

A gathering of Betty's family and friends will begin at 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Goetz Memorial Chapel 713 N. Austin St. in Seguin. A Rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at St. James Catholic Church 510 S. Camp St. in Seguin. Interment will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Goetz Funeral Home in Seguin.
