Augustin H. "Wolfman" Lopez, aged 79, peacefully passed away on June 5, 2026. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, adventure, and an unwavering devotion to the people he loved most. Augustin was welcomed into eternity by his parents, Filomena and John Lopez; his beloved grandson, Gilbert Matthew Herrera; his sisters, Soila Garcia, Fannie Ochoa and Mary Sanchez; and his brothers Greg Lopez and Gume Lopez.
A dedicated professional driver, for 50 years. Augustin spent many proud years driving cross-country for Tyson Foods before concluding his career behind the wheel with Slankard Produce. His extensive time on the open road fueled his lifelong passion for travel and adventures. The absolute best part of his traveling was bringing his family along with him; having them by his side added even more to every trip and turned every destination into a cherished memory.
His lively presence, laughter, and storytelling will be deeply missed by a wide circle of family and friends at all future family gatherings, especially during the annual Lopez-De La Cruz Family Reunions he loved so much.
While he wore many hats throughout his 79 years, Augustin’s most important and cherished roles in life were husband, father, and grandfather and great grandfather. His beautiful love story began on May 17, 1964, when he wed his soulmate, Hercilia Machado Lopez, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Seguin, Texas. For 62 incredible years, they honored their sacred vows and built a lifetime of beautiful memories together. Augustin cherished Hercilia with his whole heart, dedicating his life to taking care of her and ensuring she always felt valued and protected. In his final days, that profound devotion came full circle as Hercilia beautifully reciprocated that love, tenderly caring for him until the very end. Together, they built a beautiful life, and Hercilia remained immensely proud of the wonderful father and grandfather and great grandfather he became to their family.
Augustin lived life to the fullest, from finding great joy in spending time watching westerns at home to traveling across the country with his family. When he wasn't behind the wheel you could always find him rooting for his favorite baseball team. He was a dedicated fan of the Houston Astros and rarely missed a game, always finding a way to tune in on the big screen, no matter what. He had a passion for casinos and chasing the next big jackpot on the slots around him. Though he loved the thrill of the casinos, Augustin always considered his family to be his ultimate jackpot, and will forever be his biggest win in life. Closer to home, he appreciated the simple pleasures of fishing, listening to his favorite music, and being with friends and family while sharing a perfectly crafted Bloody Mary.
Though his final road trip has taken him home, Augustin's journey does not end here. His family, his grandchildren, great grand children and his friends are the living keepers of his precious memories. We will all be here together to share his stories, keep his laughter alive, and carry his adventurous spirit forward in everything we do.
Augustin is survived by his beloved wife, Hercilia; his loving daughters, Christine Lopez (Fernando), Carmen Valdez (Robert), and Cheyenne Lopez; his devoted son, Augustin Lopez Jr.; his surviving grandchildren, Fernando "Mick" Gonzales, Michael Herrera, Jason Valdez, Jeanette Valdez, Heaven Sandlin, Justin Valdez, Jessi Valdez Lopez, and Johnathan Lopez; and his 22 great-grandchildren.
Serving as Pallbearers will be Fernando "Mick" Gonzales, Jason Valdez, Justin Valdez, Michael Herrera, Johnathan Lopez, and Gabriel Estrada.
