Mr. Reed Alexander Rankin of Seguin, Tx passed away at his home on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the age of 85. He was born in Chicago, IL on October 12, 1933. A proud graduate of Texas A&M University, class of 1955, Reed continued his education at St. Mary’s School of Law, where he graduated in 1959 and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas that same year. Reed worked at Kelly Air Force Base as a Contract Negotiator/Attorney for 29 years. His many career accomplishments included negotiating fuel contracts for the NASA Apollo missions. Reed also received the Presidential Service Award from President Johnson. He is preceded in death by his wife, Margot Rankin and his parents, Thomas and Norma Rankin.

Survivors include his sons Mark Rankin and wife Constance, Gary Rankin, and Brian Rankin; stepson, Ty Carey, and stepdaughter, Michelle Simpson and her husband R. W.; grandchildren Hunter and significant other Anna, Tiffany, Shane and significant other Heidi, Luke, and Karyn. Reed was blessed with great grandchildren as well: Tyler, Addison, Silas, and Bryson.

Reed was an avid fisherman, hunter and wildlife conservationist. He thoroughly enjoyed his time fishing at Port O’Connor and treasured time spent with family.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at the Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
